Reservations & Supplements
Keeping in line with the spirit of Interrail, train travel is fun in Belgium, you can just hop on and off most of the local and regional trains.
But to give you peace of mind, we recommend that you make sure you understand everything there is to know about seat reservations and supplements on trains in Belgium before you travel.
Reservations:
Not all of Belgium's trains require reservations but some do. We highly recommend that you check reservation requirments for trains in Belgium in this section and make any reservations before you travel.
Reservations are required for:
We would recommend reservations, if you are intending to use any of the following trains in Belgium:
Airport trains: Only domestic trains to and from Brussels airport will require you to purchase a supplement. You can buy the supplement at the station or once you have boarded the train. The supplement of around €3.00 can be bought in the station or train.
International trains: Reservations will be required for travel on international trains from Belgium. Please contact our reservations team to confirm this.
High-speed trains: Reservations are required on Thalys high-speed trains which provide direct rail connections between Brussels to Paris.
Reservations are not required for:
- Intercity (IC): reservation are not required for these trains
- InterRegio (IR) and Local (L): reservations are not possible for these trains
