Keeping in line with the spirit of Interrail, train travel in Norway is a nice adventure! You can just hop on and off most of the local and regional trains.
But to give you piece of mind, we recommend that you make sure you understand everything there is to know about seat reservations and supplements on trains in Norway before you travel.

We would recommend reservations, if you are intending to use any of the following trains in Norway:

International InterCity trains: Advance reservations are required for international InerCity trains between Oslo and Stockholm (Sweden).

Regiontog: Reservations are required for these trains which serve the international route to Göteborg (Sweden).

NSB Regiontog: Reservations are required on both long-distance trains and InterCity trains (both known as NSB Regiontog)

Night trains: Reservations on Norwegian night trains are not compulsory but are recommend.

- All other trains: Reservations are not required for all other train types that operate in Norway.
