Keeping in line with the spirit of Interrail, train travel in Slovakia is efficient and easy, as the railway lines are quite well connected! You can just hop on and off most of the local and regional trains.
But to give you piece of mind, we recommend that you make sure you understand everything there is to know about seat reservations and supplements on trains in Slovakia before you travel.

We would recommend reservations, if you are intending to use any of the following trains in Slovakia:

SC SuperCity: Reservations are required for trains to Prague (Czech Republic) which run daily.

EuroNight (EN): Reservations are required on these international night trains.

EuroCity (EC) and InterCity (IC): Reservations are only required on the EC Vienna/Bratislava – Košice routes of these trains.
Reservations are not required for:
The following trains in Slovakia do not need you to make a reservation:
- Regional Expres (REX) Osobný vlak and Motorová jednotka trains: Reservations are not required on these regional and local trains.
- Expres (Ex), Rýchlik (R) and Zrýchlený vlak (Zr): Reservations are not required on these long distance interregional trains.
